There are dogs that trial interstate so the Australian Open dog of the year doesn't always match the QLD open dog of the year.
For example Steve Skewes with McNamaras Scotty has 18 points with QLD open dog of the year but has been down to NSW and gained 8 points so his combined Australian score is 26.

1. 2016/2017 Aust open Dog of the Year Update 1. 14/9/2016

Hi, Welcome back to the Australian Open dog of the Year blog for 2016/2017. A number of trials have already been run, so here is our first point score update. I resigned from point scorer and Narelle Johnston has taken over this duty, I will help her for the first few updates to get her up to speed with the point scoring system.

Narelle although technically retired still works a number of hours at Lismore Base hospital emergency department as a registered Nurse. I look forward to showing Narelle the ropes and I hope she enjoys this position as much as I did. The next update will be done close to Xmas.

5. 29/4/2016 update for aust open dog of the year points

Hi,

Here is an updated version of the Australian open points.
I have had confirmation that any dog regardless of their status is entitled to gain points in the Australian Open dog of the year if it places in the open event it has competed in.

Congrats to the winners on the weekend at Red Range, a mighy fine effort QLD, I hear you beat NSW by 1 point in the state of origin and took home the first 3 placing in the Australian Open Championship event...well done!!

14/3/16: open dog of the year points update

Points remain current as at 14/3/16, a couple of NSW trials have been run and will be added to NSW working dog website soon.
I will try and keep it as updated as much as i can now until it finishes.
