Points...How they are determined for the Aust Dog of the year

Hi,
There has been some question as the Queensland Dog of the Year points don't 'match' the Australian dog of the Year points. Liz Hughes has kindly sent out an email with a great description of exactly how the points are calculated. I have attatched a copy of this for those who didnt receive it by email,
Cheers Lissy,

Hello Members
So that you can follow the points for the Dog of the Year I thought I would give you some background on how it works.

Queensland Dog of the Year -    Points for 2013-14 will come from affiliated trials that are run from 1st June 2013 to 30th June 2014.
This  period will change over for 2014-15 to 1st July 2014 to 30th June 2015 and continue as per these dates.
Points are awarded at each affiliated trial for 1st to 6th place in the Open & Novice trials.
The base number of dogs is 30 dogs for 6 points for first with 5 down to 1 awarded for 2nd to 6th place.
An additional point is added for each 10 dogs competing i.e if there is 60 dogs 1st will be awarded 9 points etc.
If there are 62 dogs it would be 9.2 points etc.

New South Wales Dog of the Year -    Points for 2013-14 will come from affiliated trials that are run from 1st July 2013 to 30th June 2014.
Points are awarded on a flat scale of 5 points for 1st with 4 down to 1 awarded for 2nd to 5th place.
The number of dogs is not needed or considered to work the points out.

Australian Open Dog of the Year- Points for 2013-2014 will come from Qld & NSW affiliated trials held from 1st July 2013 to 30th June 2014.
Points come from Queensland affiliated trials as per www.qwcdta.blogspot.com  Dog of the Year points excluding June 2013 trials.
Points come from New South Wales affiliated trials with the Aust Dog of the Year points scorer obtaining results from www.nswworkingstockdogs.org.au
The points for 1st to 6th are then worked out by the points scorer using the same formula as Qld, with the number of dogs having to be known to do so.

Hi,
I have completed the first installment of the Australian Open dog of the year points.

This was discussed at the Australian AGM and NSW is going to follow up with local trials and discuss the importance of providing dog numbers and to 6th place. As it stands i have only taken results from the NSW and QLD websites that are available to me, so if NSW does come up with there dog numbers these results may change.
